In all of the discussions and meetings throughout our research for our launch our mission was simple – our sportwear and sports kit had to be ethically sourced and sustainable and make a positive impact on the community whilst having the smallest impact on the environment.

Being green and environmentally friendly is such a hot topic at the moment with words like sustainable, eco friendly and ethical being used in many marketing campaigns the world over; however, most of the time you have no idea of what is happening in the background. Many large companies are using buzz words and playing on the consciences of their customers, it’s hard for the customer to find products that are truly sustainable and ethically and responsibly sourced.

The customer has to trawl through and understand the marketing company’s jargon and hype in order to find what they are looking for. We believe that we are transparent in our approach given you the customer all of the information needed to make an informed decision when purchasing your sustainable sportswear which is ethically and responsibly sourced.

What is a Sustainable Product?

There are four key components for our sustainable sportswear products.

1: Our products are made with responsibly sourced materials. Currently all sportswear is made out of recycled plastic bottles. Our insulated bottles are made from recycled stainless steel.

2: The products are made in an ethically way. We have partnered with factories that are certified and audited, they have ISO9001 certificate with proven working practises that are above the standard. Their staff are paid above the minimum wage and are treated fairly.

3: Have a long life cycle. Our sustainable sportswear is designed to last, not just for the current season and can be recycled once they have reached the end of their life.

4: Can be disposed of easily. Due to the thermodynamic qualities used in the manufacturing process of our sustainable sportswear, the material can be heated, melted and transformed into new materials again and again

As well as these 4 key components of a sustainable product we offer reusable packaging as a shipping option that can be used over 50 times, giving it a carbon footprint which is much lower than that of traditional packaging methods. Our polybags are biodegradable and compostable.

The final piece in the puzzle is that with every single sustainable product you purchase on the OSO website we will plant a tree using our tree planting partner. More:Trees work with local communities to restore healthy forests and reduce extreme poverty. Planting trees not only absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere but provides farms with work to support the local community and gives someone a skill to feed their family. Tree planting has other benefits such as water filtration, shelter, food sources, poverty alleviation and biodiversity.
